Create Your First Prompt
Creating your own prompt is where TypeBoost starts feeling personal.
Open the Prompts Settings
On Mac:
- Click the TypeBoost menu bar icon.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Prompts.
From there, you can create a new prompt.
Choose How to Start
TypeBoost gives you two practical ways to create a prompt:
- Describe the prompt you want and let TypeBoost generate a starting version.
- Create one manually from scratch.
If you already know what you want, manual creation is usually the fastest.
If you only have a rough idea, the generator is a good starting point.
Start with a Clear Name
Give the prompt a name that is easy to recognize in the search list later.
Good names are short and specific:
- Improve Email
- Rewrite for LinkedIn
- Turn Notes into Tasks
Avoid vague names like:
- Better
- Fix
- Prompt 1
Write the Main Instruction
Most prompts work well when you clearly state:
- what the AI should do
- how the result should sound
- what the output should look like
Example:
Rewrite the text so it sounds clear, professional, and warm. Keep the meaning. Keep it concise. Return only the improved text.
That is enough for many everyday workflows.
Pick the Right Type
When you create the prompt, choose whether it should work for:
- text only
- voice only
- both
If you want to reuse the same prompt across both input styles, choose the all-purpose option.
Add Helpful Details
A few extra fields make prompts easier to manage:
- Tags help you find prompts faster.
- Show changes opens diff view by default for prompts where comparing old and new text matters.
- Description helps you remember what the prompt is for.
You do not need to fill in every field on day one. Start simple.
Test It Right Away
The fastest way to improve a prompt is to use it.
Create the prompt, run it on real text, and adjust it if the result is too vague, too long, or off-tone.
Prompt writing gets better through short test loops, not by trying to make the perfect prompt before the first run.
