# Your First Text Workflow on Mac

This is the core TypeBoost workflow.

## Start with Text

The fastest way to use TypeBoost is to select text in any Mac app.

Good first examples:

- an email draft
- a paragraph in Notes
- a message in your browser
- a rough outline you want to clean up

Select the text the same way you would if you were about to copy it.

## Open TypeBoost

Press your text shortcut.

By default, that is `Control + Space`.

TypeBoost opens as a floating window and brings the selected text with it.

If you open TypeBoost without a selection, you can still type or paste text into the window and continue from there.

## Choose a Prompt

In the TypeBoost window, start typing to search your prompts.

Pick the prompt you want and run it.

Examples:

- Improve tone
- Shorten this
- Fix grammar
- Turn this into action items

## Run a One-Off Instruction

You do not have to use only saved prompts.

You can also type your own short instruction in the search bar and run it right away.

This is useful when you want something specific once, without creating a new prompt first.

Examples:

- Make this more confident
- Turn this into three bullet points
- Rewrite this for LinkedIn

## Insert or Copy the Result

When the result is ready, you can:

- insert it back into the app you were using
- copy it to your clipboard
- continue working from there

If direct insert is not available in the app you came from, copying still gives you a fast fallback.

## A Good First Test

Try this once:

1. Open an email draft.
2. Select one rough paragraph.
3. Run TypeBoost.
4. Choose a prompt like `Improve Email`.
5. Insert the result back into the draft.

That one loop shows what the product is really about.
